SCRAPBOOKING – VINTAGE WRITING

MAKE TIME FOR THE ONES YOU LOVE

WHAT IS SCRAPBOOKING?

To put it in a nutshell scrapbooking is the making of books, which hold memories or collections. Scrapbookers often wish to embellish their pages with, braids, stickers, pins, patterned papers, split pins, badges, words and phrases, buttons and basically anything to decorate their page. Scrapbooking products are also strongly used by those who love to make their own cards and invitations, so it is a huge and very saleable market. In this collection I have created some ribbons, paper, stickers and buttons.

With Vintage Writing as the theme, I researched a number of different eras and art periods. My piece includes some retro clocks, a vintage telephone, ink bottles, quills and fountain pens. I really enjoyed concentrating on the layout and making icons relating the subject matter. The sage greens, mustard and pale blue, with dusky pinks really lifted the vintage style. To create the textures on the stickers I took photographs of some of the old sleepers in the garden and the stitching from my read leather sofa. The red wax seal icons made perfect little flowery buttons and I offset the rendered layers to create more interest. I could make ribbons and themed paper for ever more, as it is just an extension of pattern making, which I absolutely adore doing. These could easily be applied to the bolt fabric market too.

I would love to know what you think of these designs.

P.S. Don’t forget that we are fast approaching Christmas and even if it is only a quick phone call, text, Facebook, email, extra hug or if time permits, a knock at someone’s door, MAKE TIME FOR THE ONES YOU LOVE!
